I was delighted to cover Helen & David’s wedding at The Hunters Inn which is situated in Heddon Valley and is regarded as one of the most beautiful wedding locations in the South West. It is a fantastic Edwardian Inn with bright spacious rooms and fabulous views of the valley. The Inn has four acres of beautifully landscaped grounds ideal for wedding photography and is situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Your Wedding Day can be as simple or elaborate as you wish – from your marriage ceremony alone, to a fully seated wedding breakfast and evening party.
The ballroom is licensed for a wedding ceremony for up to 100 guests. If you wish, you can choose to have a marquee reception in the beautiful grounds or have a drinks reception with canapes, returning to the ballroom for your wedding breakfast including a band or disco in the evening. The Morning Room is licensed for 40 Guests, with a reception in the ballroom or a marquee.

Stoodleigh Court

The reception for Kayleigh and Andrew’s wedding in July took place at Stoodleigh Court just outside of Tiverton. This has so much to offer bride & groom and the photographer alike. The stonework of the main building, the wood panelling inside, the stunning main hall and the beautifully decorated function room as well as the first class service from the staff, all make this a place to seriously consider if you are getting married in Devon.

You can celebrate in style at Stoodleigh Court, where the staff can help you create a special and truly memorable occasion for you, your family and friends in a beautiful Devon Wedding Venue. The impressive principal rooms can be exclusively yours for the day, giving you the flexibility to make the most of this wonderful setting. Three of the rooms are also licensed for the civil marriage ceremony.   Beautiful grounds provide an idyllic backdrop for photographs, while guests can mingle and sip champagne against the breathtaking views of the Devon countryside.

Sandy Cove Hotel – 3 Star Luxury Above The Sea 001 Cresswell

From the moment you arrive, you will feel truly welcome, the charm and courtesy of the staff are only two of many reasons why visitors return to the hotel again and again. Perched on a North Devon cliff top the hotel has breathtaking sea views. The sprawling sea decks stretches the entire length of the hotel and from these you will enjoy uninterrupted views of Great & Little Hangman and the rolling hills of Exmoor, Sandy Cove Hotel could not be situated in a more spectacular position.

The  lovely function room, amazing clifftop Marquee and gardens are perfect for a Wedding Venue.  They have a Civil License for Civil Marriage Ceremonies to take place on the premises. Their dedicated staff will be with you every step of the way ensuring each detail is taken care of with your special day.

Northcote Manor

A Beautiful Wedding Venue in North Devon

054 Trevena

Weddings at Northcote Manor in Devon are always private and extra special. They understand the complexities of planning weddings and have perfected the art of creating spectacular wedding celebrations of which memories are made. They were also recently runner up in the Westcountry Wedding Awards ‘Best Wedding Venue in Devon’ category.  One of their recent brides agrees…

“Northcote Manor was my wedding venue and I couldn’t have had a better day. The staff were fantastic on the day and leading up to the celebrations. The wedding organiser was brilliant, making sure everything went perfectly. The food was delicious and our room was beautiful. The surroundings were also beautiful; we couldn’t ask for any more. Thank you to all the staff for making our day one I will never forget” (July 2012)

You have a choice of 3 areas at Northcote where you may take your wedding vows. The  Oak room is a popular choice of venue and overlooks an old Oak tree, with fields stretching beyond. Large wedding parties often choose the slate roof conservatory, which opens onto a garden terrace area. If you have a outdoor wedding in mind, they also have a beautiful Victorian summerhouse called ‘The Sanctuary’ – an ideal venue for a romantic wedding ceremony.

Imagine your wedding guests on the garden terrace in our private grounds enjoying bubbles and canapés whilst I can capture those special wedding day moments. Wedding photo opportunities can also be found from the bridge in the Victorian garden or apple orchards with the North Devon countryside as a backdrop.

Naomi & Phil Saturday 30th March 2013

9th April 2013 by Alan Schofield

Not every Bride gets to wear a veil that was worn by her Mother and Grandmother on her Wedding Day but that’s exactly what Naomi did last weekend.  Another rather special touch was the fur shawl she wore and a brooch on the boquet that belonged to her other Grandmother. The colour theme for their spring wedding was purple and yellow, just perfect for the time of year. The lucky groom was fellow teacher Phillip who along with his attendants looked very dapper in their grey tails with lemon coloured cravats and delicate purple buttonholes. After an emotional service at Christchurch in Braunton the guests travelled the short distance to the Sandy Cove Hotel whilst we took a trip to Woolacombe beach.  We headed down to the sea dodging the local surfers and  despite the freezing temperatures and gusty winds enjoyed a great 45 minutes in and around the rocks. As the sun shone down (making it look like a summers day!) the couple created their trademark giant heart on the sand which followed  the theme of the wedding featuring on the invitations and order of service sheets.

Back at the stunning Sandy Cove Hotel the group photos were taken on the lawns before the wedding breakfast and speeches, when the Best man made all the guests laugh at the Groom’s expense. During the short break before the evening party started we popped down to the nearby Watermouth Castle to make the most of the lovely weather that North Devon enjoyed over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

And the song  played for the first dance – Frank Sinatra’s  “It had to be you”…

This is what Naomi and Phil had to say about their special day…

“The coldest March in 50 years, a fantastic ceremony, a trip to the beach, a beautiful hotel, a truck load of Mini Eggs, dancing into the night and two teachers! Thank you so much to all our friends and family for making our day so perfect. Love Naomi & Phil”
